Chepstow Accommodation Reviews | Greenman Accommodation

This Place Is Spotless | 5 out of 5

Our party of 9 walkers have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Greenman Backpackers. We are well used to different standards of accommodation but this place is extraordinary! Firstly, it is spotless and a credit to Mick, Ness and their staff. The photos on the website are good but the real thing is even better. I would certainly recommend it to any walking parties looking for a base to explore the lower reaches of the Wye Valley.

Pure Joy! | 5 out of 5

You can't beat Greenman! Managers Mick and Ness provide what must have been the best service I've ever had at a hostel/backpackers. Greenman is actually so cosy, clean, neat and generous in the facilities it offers that the term 'backpackers' seems a misnomer. The central location, warm and helpful welcome, gorgeous interior decorating, sumptuous lounge/bar (with view), beautifully appointed communal kitchen, generous breakfast offerings, comfortable rooms and pristine bathrooms were pure joy. I didn't want to leave!

Cleaner than many 4 Star Hotels | 5 out of 5

Fantastic place in a great location at amazing price. Cleaning standards were better than many 4 star hotels I stayed in before. Landlords were very friendly and helpful, I have left my keys behind and they posted it with no hassle. Highly recommend and will use again myself.

We had a brilliant stay at the Greenman Backpackers, a fantastic hostel with lovely hosts and their staff. Perfectly positioned in Chepstow, immaculately clean, lovely rooms and facilities, well equipped kitchen and a lush breakfast supplied. I can't recommend this hostel highly enough, really well run with friendly, helpful staff. Thank you for a great weekend!

Well Above Hotel Standards | 5 out of 5

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Immaculately clean, I'd say well above hotel standards. The owners are super friendly, very passionate and proud of the place. Lots of the history in the building itself. Definitely would recommend to everyone and I'll come back next time I'm in the area.

P.S. Got to try some of the gins at the bar. Great selection!

Although you can't make an online-booking the contact is easy and the staff is very helpful and they do everything to make your stay fantastic. Everything is very clean, nicely decorated and I think newly renovated. The continental breakfast is included and offers everything you wish for.

I arrived on a Saturday for a one night stay. The welcome I got from Mick and Ness was brilliant. As soon as I stepped into the hostel I felt at home. At this point I must say that the level of workmanship and decor at the Greenman Backpackers is second to none. I have never been to a hostel like it. It was more like a 5 star hotel. Everywhere was sparkling and the standard of the facilities absolutely brilliant. It is hard to explain just how good it is, I encourage anyone who is planning a stay in or around Chepstow to check out the Greenman. Whether you are on a budget or not the Greenman has to be the place to stay.

The bar is another great aspect of the hostel. Frequented by locals and residents it too has a very friendly inviting atmosphere. You get a feel for local issues and every one is so friendly. I am not the greatest bar visitor but the evening i spent there was one of the best.

The renovation of the hostel has taken 7 years and Mick and Ness have had the vision and determination to develop a wonderful concept. I cannot praise the Greenman enough, you must go there to experience what a fantastic facility it is.

Well where do I start ? Firstly I loved the fact that the history of the building has been so tastefully renovated . Each room you go in gives you something interesting to look at with all the pictures/ photos of historical Chepstow , men that served our country , paintings , also famous people and not forgetting the Widders. The accommodation has been finished to a very high standard with thought been given to everyone's needs . The bar has a welcoming room which gives you a great outlook onto the town . The lounge gives you a chance to relax after a long day and unwind . Can you guess I loved it great to see a place to stay which is within everyone's budget and top class . Well done

Excellent hostel in a building full of history. Clean, spacious, comfortable and conveniently located in the heart of Chepstow - just a few minutes-walk to the castle and the Old Wye Bridge. The perfect base for a trip to Tintern Abbey too. Welcoming and helpful staff - Will definitely be coming back!

I don't travel much on my own or use hostels but this is a great hostel. The staff are very welcoming and very accommodating and have secure bike storage The facilities are absolutely spotless at all times. The breakfast is self-serve continental which allows the hungriest of morning people to fill their boots! I didn't use the bar but it seemed to be full of friendly chattering people.

It's a wonderful place, built and managed by a fantastic person. My friends and me have planned to stay just one night, but, after the experience we had there, we finally stopped three days and were really sad to leave. Thanks Mick, keep improving that magic place!

Best hostel I ever stayed. A historical building, but with modern and excellent rooms. The beds slept well, the shower was good and everything was very, very clean.

We stayed here for one night during the Summers End Festival and were glad the organization arranged this for us.
