The Chepstow area has a great deal to offer cyclists and the Greenman Backpackers is a popular stop off and re-charging point for any cyclists riding the Lands End to John O’Groats Cycle, The Celtic Trail and /or The Lon Las Cymru.
Land’s End to John O’Groats cyclists arrive in Chepstow around 210 miles into their journey and find us to be the perfect cyclist’s accommodation to rest and recuperate before facing the 645 miles that are to follow. Or of course, the other way around if you are cycling from John O’ Groats to Land’s End! If that is the case from Chepstow to Land’s End is all downhill!
We pride ourselves as the best Cyclists accommodation in Chepstow and have a safe and secure cycle store. Plus, we carry a supply of basic spare parts.
The Greenman Backpackers is also popular with cyclists following the 377 miles of the “Celtic Trail” Click for more Detail. This is a series of largely traffic-free dedicated cycle routes from Fishguard to Chepstow, taking in all the places in between as part of the National Cycle Network.
For the “Lon Las Cymru”(Click for more details), This is a more challenging 250 mile cycle ride from Holyhead to Chepstow, described as “one of the toughest of all the long distance routes on the National Cycle Network”.
But if you just want to pedal the Wye Valley, which we think is a fantastic idea, we can supply you with some possible routes.
If mountain biking is more your thing, then we are ideally situated for a weekend tour of the Forest of Dean (fodmtb), Bike Park Wales and Afan Bike Park. You can ride a different park each day returning to the Greenman for food and a super comfy bed. More and more people are doing this.
Chepstow has been for several years a stage of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series. The roads are closed and the pavements barriered. The people of Chepstow, the District and the families of the racers turn out in force to support. This is a fantastic experience.
